Drapery & Curtain Cleaning in Ahwatukee, Phoenix AZ

Original pleats or remodel panels, cleaned with equal precision.

Ahwatukee homes from the eighties and nineties still have the drapery that went up when the house was furnished. We clean those panels on the rod, in place, from Mountain Park Ranch to Foothills Club West.

How our drapery cleaning process works

Caring for Ahwatukee Drapery

Panels that have hung for decades hold more than anyone expects, and older fabric doesn't always survive a take-down. Fiber condition and colorfastness are tested first, then we clean in place so the hardware and the fabric both stay put.

Panels in a kitchen nook or a family room beside the cooktop hold a light film of cooking residue that binds dust to the fabric. It shows as a dull, slightly stiff hand rather than visible dirt. We test, then use a method that breaks that film down without pushing moisture through the lining.

Remodels in Lakewood and The Foothills added a second kind of drapery to the area: newer panels hung in an opened-up great room or a refreshed primary suite. Those fabrics run lighter, with more poly blends, and hang to the floor or puddle on it. A puddled hem collects floor dust and pet hair that never reaches the upper panel. Drapery cleaning on the rod covers the full length, hem to header, so drapery and curtains finish one even color.

Your Questions, Answered

My drapes are original to the house. Are they worth cleaning?

Yes, in most cases, and long-uncleaned panels show the most dramatic results. The fabric is tested first, and a panel that's too far gone is identified before you pay for it.

Does South Mountain dust get into drapery?

Yes. Homes near the preserve take in fine trail dust that settles along the top of each pleat and deep in the folds of the stack. Cleaning on the rod clears it from the header down, without disturbing the hardware.

Will old drapery shrink when it's cleaned?

Not when the method fits the fiber. Shrinkage comes from too much moisture on cotton, rayon, or linen, and every panel is tested first to set the level. Aged panels get a low-moisture approach that holds their length.

Do hem weights cause rust stains when drapery is cleaned?

Not with controlled moisture. Older panels hide lead or metal weights sewn into the hem corners, and overwetting can rust them and bleed a stain through the face. Hems are checked first, and moisture stays low enough that the weights never get wet.

Should I clean drapery that came with a house I just bought?

Yes. Drapery left behind by a previous owner holds their cooking, pets, and smoke along with years of dust. Cleaning it on the rod before you settle in resets the fabric to neutral, and costs far less than replacing panels already sized to the windows.
