How our drapery cleaning process works
The Drapery Behind Phoenix Windows
Custom treatments on non-standard windows are the hardest to rehang, and every take-down risks a panel that never hangs right again. We don't take them down. We identify the fabric, test colorfastness, and clean lined, sheer, and layered treatments without touching the hardware.
Newer construction in Desert Ridge brings tall great rooms and drapery chosen after move-in, a different job from the lined custom panels of the older central neighborhoods. Synthetic blends from a showroom and hand-sewn linen from a workroom need different handling, and the fiber test tells us which one we are standing in front of.
Air conditioning runs most of the year here with the house sealed, and drapery hangs right in the path of that moving air. The fabric works as a filter nobody changes. In Desert Ridge great rooms and Moon Valley living rooms alike, the result is a gray cast across the face of every panel and a dull feel to the hand. Drapery cleaning on the rod clears it, whether the house has formal drapes or simple rod-pocket curtains.

Good to Know
Do you clean drapery in older Phoenix homes?
Yes. Long-installed panels and older hardware are exactly what on-site cleaning is for. Fiber condition and dye stability are checked first, then every panel is cleaned in place.
How many years can drapery go between cleanings?
Two to three years. Pets, smoking, and heavy cooking shorten that, and so does a room where the panels stay drawn all summer. Past that point, soil starts bonding to the fiber and takes more work to lift.
Which side of a Phoenix house fades drapery first?
South and west. Those windows take direct afternoon light for most of the year, and the UV breaks down fiber along the leading edge of each panel. Cleaning removes the soil there, though dye the sun has destroyed stays gone.
Can drapery on a cord-and-traverse rod be cleaned without taking it apart?
Yes. Pleated panels on traverse rods stay hooked to their carriers, and the cords, pulleys, and master slides are left as they are. Mid-century ranches still have plenty of these systems, and the panels clean up the same as any pleated drapery while the old rod keeps working.
Why have my white sheers turned yellow?
Two causes. Soil, cooking film, and smoke residue build a yellow cast that cleaning lifts. Polyester and nylon that have oxidized from years of light carry a yellowing in the fiber itself, and that part stays. The inspection shows which you have before anything is cleaned.
